Christmas in Uganda

Today we learned about Christmas time in Uganda. We learned that it is a time for family to gather together and eat a special meal. We also learned that they like to go caroling throughout their villages singing and banging on drums. So for art today we made our own drums!!

Unfortunately our elf got touched yesterday, so she could not be here with today. However she did leave us a note that said that Santa asked her to take the day off and go to a special class on how to hide where you won't be touched! Hopefully she can pass the class and come back tomorrow! 

Its December!!

Hello!! I am so sorry about the long time of no blogging- but my camera finally decided that it was time to kick the bucket and I haven't been able to replace it and didn't think that blog posts were fun without some pictures!! But I am using my Ipad for now (totally forgot about using that!!:) ) This week we have started a two week theme about holidays around the world. Yesterday I introduced the kids to a "friend" of mine named Scott who likes to travel all around the world. I asked Scott to send us some information on the countries that he visits and how they celebrate Christmas or a winter holiday. Yesterday we talked about Germany and how one of their big traditions is to make gingerbread men and houses. So we made our own gingerbread men! Today we talked about Australia and how it is summer there when they have Christmas and how lots of people spend Christmas on the beach!! (lucky!!) So we made some surfin' Santas to represent the beach! We also got some sand sent to us from the beach for our science bucket!! It was a good day!! 

We also had a very special friend appear today!! Santa sent us an elf!! Her letter said that we had to name her and make sure that we took very special care of her. It also said that she was going to help us remember to be kind this Christmas season and she was going to leave us notes everyday showing us a different way to show kindness!! We named her Ariel Sparkle Bee!! Hopefully she reports all of the good choices that happen in the busy bee room!! 

Halloween Party

Today was our Halloween Party!! Thanks to all the parents who stopped in for the party and to all of those who made our yummy treats and brought in the "necessity" things for our party! The kids enjoyed all of it!! Here are some of the pictures from our day!!
