Wednesday

Hello! Today for our alphabet theme we read the book Z is For Moose. Its a crazy book about a moose who just wants to be on every page of the alphabet book! The kids really liked the silly moose and all of his antics. For art today we made snakes!- Alphabet snakes that is. The kids colored their own snakes however they wanted and then we added letter scales! They are in the files just waiting to go home!! Here are some pictures from our day!

Happy Birthday Leo!!

Hello!! I hope that you had a fantastic long weekend and enjoyed your extra day off!! The kids did great today even with the little change to routine. We celebrated Leo's birthday today!! His real birthday was yesterday but he was super happy to celebrate with us today! He brought in a yummy snack that the whole class enjoyed!! Thanks Leo!!  Today we started our alphabet theme. I always find that it is a nice little refresher for the kids who have already had one year of preschool and a nice intro to those kids who haven't. We talked about the difference between uppercase and lowercase letters and then read Chicka, Chicka, Boom, Boom. The kids really enjoyed the book and wanted me to read it again! :) For art we made our own alphabet trees with all 26 letters! They are hanging on the wall in our room for you to stop in and see! Hand prints

Today for art I had the kids trace and cut out their own hand prints. Some of the kids looked at me funny when I asked them to trace them but we got the job done. I then had my own hand print cut out for the kids to glue next to their own- with the poem " I'm glad you're on my team and I think we'll have fun, laughing and learning to get the job done." They are up on the wall (much to the kids' dismay!- They love taking home their art to share!) I didn't get a lot of pictures taken today because I kept moving my camera and then forgetting where I put it! :) Oh well- here are the ones that I took!

Pete the Cat

Today we watched the video for the book Pete the Cat: Rocking in my School Shoes. The kids really love Pete the Cat. We have listened to some other Pete books as well and they all ROCK!! Here is the link to the video.

For art today we made our own rocking school shoes! They are in the files to take home! We also had our first tornado drill. I warned the kids that it was going to happen about 30 mins before hand just to give them a heads up (also to remind myself!!) The kids did a great job of dropping what they were doing and walking quickly and quietly to our door and then to the women's bathroom. I reassured them that this was a drill and that we would have them once a month. 

Too Much Glue

Today we listened to the book Too Much Glue  on our Ipad. It is a cute story about a little boy who LOVES glue!! Here is the video we watched!

For art today we made our own Too Much Glue people! The kids got to choose between pom-poms, feathers, and noodles to put on their people! The kids did a great job on them and they will take a while to dry because we used a lot of glue ourselves!!
